History of Illinois Youth
Dance Theatre
Illinois Youth Dance Theatre, Inc. is under the Artistic
Direction of Alyce Keaggy-Brinkmann. Founded in 2000, IYDT is a non-profit
company providing an opportunity for pre-professional dancers to showcase
their talent. The company has performed “The Nutcracker”
annually for 8 years as well as a variety of other works, starting in
2001 with “Swan Lake”. The company then performed the original
full-length ballet created by Mrs. Keaggy-Brinkmann “Joan of Arc”
in 2002 and 2003 at several different venues. Mrs. Keaggy-Brinkmann
created a second original full-length ballet of “The Little Mermaid”
which IYDT performed in 2004 and 2005 to rave reviews. IYDT has also
performed excerpts from several classical ballets including “Swan
Lake”, “Cinderella” “Paquita”, “La
Bayadere”, and “Giselle” in addition to several contemporary
mixed repertory pieces. IYDT is pleased to have welcomed several professional
guest artists over the years including Samuel Pergande and Steve Bierens
(Joffrey Ballet), Rolando Yanes, Lance Hardin, and Karl von Rabenau
(Milwaukee Ballet), and Calin Radulescu (Romanian National Ballet).
